{"id":16535,"date":"2020-11-05T04:30:34","date_gmt":"2020-11-05T10:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/?p=16535"},"modified":"2022-05-20T15:42:13","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T20:42:13","slug":"escoffier-boulder-challenge-september-block","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/blog\/boulder-student-life\/escoffier-boulder-challenge-september-block\/","title":{"rendered":"Escoffier Boulder Challenge &#8211; September Block"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As our cooking challenge has been getting more competitive each week we are now proceeding with shortened blocks, giving all new students a chance to compete as well.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"custom-single-post-title\">Welcome to the September Block of the Escoffier Boulder Challenge!<\/h2>\n<p>The Escoffier <span class=\"il\">Boulder<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Challenge<\/span> is a way for Boulder Campus students to show off their cooking skills by participating in a weekly cooking <span class=\"il\">challenge<\/span> to win gift cards to our favorite local restaurants.<\/p>\n<h2>How It Works:<\/h2>\n<p>Each Thursday, we announce a new <span class=\"il\">challenge<\/span> with a featured theme or ingredient. Students prepare a dish that best represents the featured <span class=\"il\">challenge<\/span>\u00a0and post a photo of the dish on Instagram using the hashtag\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/triumphhighereducation.cmail19.com\/t\/i-i-xujujdk-l-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/triumphhighereducation.cmail19.com\/t\/i-i-xujujdk-l-y\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1598036004804000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEiFt5QsBXNzsircwfe1acGt1mJDg\">#EscoffierBoulderChallenge<\/a>\u00a0by the following Wednesday at midnight.<\/p>\n<h2>Contest Rules:<\/h2>\n<p lang=\"x-size-15\">Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/about\/chef-instructors\/\">Chef Instructor<\/a> judges panel will select three winners based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li lang=\"x-size-15\">Creativity and implementation of weekly theme\/ingredient<\/li>\n<li lang=\"x-size-15\">Plating and presentation<\/li>\n<li lang=\"x-size-15\">Technique<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Weekly Themes:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Week 1 Challenge &#8211; September 24-28: Tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>Week 2 Challenge &#8211; September 29 &#8211; October 7: Sweet Corn<\/li>\n<li>Week 3 Challenge &#8211; October 8 &#8211; 14: Carrots<\/li>\n<li>Week 4 Challenge &#8211; October 15 &#8211; 21: Squash<\/li>\n<li>Week 5 Challenge &#8211; October 22 &#8211; 28: Kale<\/li>\n<li>Week 6 Challenge &#8211; October 29 &#8211; November 4: Birthday Cake<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Awards:<\/h2>\n<p lang=\"x-size-15\">Each week three finalists will receive a gift card to redeem at a predetermined local restaurant or may request an Amazon gift card for the amount of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li lang=\"x-size-15\">First place: $50<\/li>\n<li lang=\"x-size-15\">Second place: $35<\/li>\n<li lang=\"x-size-15\">Third Place: $25<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Week One awards are offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercantiledenver.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mercantile<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Week Two awards are offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riverandwoodsboulder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">River and Woods<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Week Three awards are offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mizunadenver.com\/#mizuna-denver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mizuna<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Week Four awards are offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bastaboulder.com\/\">Basta<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Week Five awards are offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercantiledenver.com\/\">Mercantile<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Week Six awards are offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spruceconfections.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spruce Confections<\/a><\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.75em;\">Week One Winners:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Whether you say toe-may-toe or toe-mah-toe we say congratulations to our Tomato challenge winners.
