{"id":12651,"date":"2017-11-21T19:43:13","date_gmt":"2017-11-22T01:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/?p=12651"},"modified":"2021-09-30T11:26:23","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T16:26:23","slug":"austin-campus-hosts-2nd-annual-mac-cheese-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/blog\/austin-student-life\/austin-campus-hosts-2nd-annual-mac-cheese-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Austin Campus Hosts 2nd Annual Mac &#038; Cheese Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of America&#8217;s most beloved sides got the main course treatment Sunday, November 19th at the 2nd Annual Mac &amp; Cheese Festival, organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/austinfoodmagazine.com\/\">Austin Food Magazine<\/a> and hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/about\/campuses\/austin\/\">Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin, TX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The event attracted over 1500 spectators from 12-4 P.M. for a tasting of macaroni and cheese variations from over 30 vendors as well as live music and other activities.<\/p>\n<p>Hayden Walker, the magazine&#8217;s editor-in-chief, anticipates next year&#8217;s event will have to span over multiple days because of its overwhelming popularity.<\/p>\n<p>The fan-favorite at this year&#8217;s festival was from Greenhouse Craft Foods, an eatery in neighboring Round Rock, TX that boasts a menu featuring locally-sourced food. A panel of judges made up of gourmands and media members also voted, choosing a bacon mac and cheese quesadilla from Punch Bowl Social.<\/p>\n<p>Festival-goers washed down their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/blog\/culinary-arts\/mac-and-cheese-maestros\/\">mac and cheese<\/a> with craft beers provided by local breweries Uncle Billy&#8217;s, Hops &amp; Grain and Celis, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the proceeds from the festival were donated to the Central Texas Meals on Wheels.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12655\" style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12655\" class=\"wp-image-12655 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.escoffier.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_7500-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Over thirty vendors participated in this year's festival.
